The Costa del Sol

I'm no longer making promises to keep up with my blog posts because quite obviously that doesn't seem to work out. So whenever I post, I post. That way I can avoid feeling guilty about these long absences from my blog that I've been taking periodically.

Anywhooooooo, as I'm sure you've seen on my Facebook by now, Mike and I are spending our holiday time in the Costa del Sol (a coastal region in the South of Spain). I have to say I have enjoyed it very much here, probably even more so than Barcelona, and I think Mike feels the same as well. I think we like it here better because you can get around easily for one. Marbella (the area we're in) and all of the Costa del Sol is a pretty huge tourist spot, so most everyone speaks English (or broken English at best). Surprisingly, as much as Barcelona is a huge tourist destination it can be challenging to get around if you don't know Spanish. After about 6 months in Barcelona, admittedly I'm not too well versed in Spanish just yet so making my way around town there proves to be difficult at times, so its been a joy not having to worry too much about whether or not people speak English or if they can understand anything you're saying or not. Aside from the English speaking, its absolutely gorgeous here. The beaches are beautiful, each little town has its own beauty and charm, everything is beautiful here. We've been down to Puerto Banus (one of the ports in Marbella) and Old Town Marbella several times and the only thing we've ever done there is just walk around. It's such a nice area that the only thing you want to do is walk around and immerse yourself in all the beauty. I mean how could you not want to walk around this place all day?

Besides going to Puerto Banus and Old Town Marbella I think we're going to make our way to either Tarifa or Rhonda, both places have been recommended to me to visit, and we'll just have to decide which one we want to visit. Personally I'm much more inclined to visit Tarifa because the drive is less.....stressful, so to speak. The road to Rhonda is pretty much uphill, through some mountains, and twisting and turning. I just learned how to drive a stick-shift and I'm not entirely too comfortable driving yet, I'm really not trying to go flying off of a cliff. So I think we'll stick with Tarifa. Who knows, we might just end up staying here and exploring more. Other than that, everyday we walk to the lake that's close to the townhouse we're staying at and feed the ducks, turtles, and fish. It may sound lame but I could care less. I've also spent a reasonable amount of time working on my tan! I'm no longer the color of a snowflake, and for that I am grateful. Hopefully it stays sunny here these next couple of days so I can lay out some more before we go back to Barcelona. I'll try and post a blog and more photos when we get back to Barcelona! :)

xx - Amanda!
